The Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Ottawa, Montreal, and Eastern Canada congratulates Honory-Colonel Suzanne Farag
Suzanne Farag, B.Sc., LLL, LLB, Daughter of Nagy Farag and Late Layla Farag, and Sister of Dr. Amanda Farag was invested Tuesday May 2, 2023 as the Honorary-Colonel of the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Control Operations (CFSACO), accepting a leadership role within the specialized unit of the Royal Canadian Air Force that trains military air traffic controllers / operators and air weapons controllers / operators.
Honorary Colonels are officers on virtually all issues except operations. They offer support and guidance to the command officers and members of the units they’re assigned to, while being a connection between the unit and its host community.
Suzanne was born in Hamilton, Ontario, raised in Montreal by pious Coptic Orthodox parents. She grew up and served at Virgin Mary Coptic Orthodox Church with her sister Amanda. Honorary-Colonel Suzanne completed her bachelor of science, major in physiology from McGill University. She went on to attend law school at the University of Ottawa, graduating from the national program, obtaining both her civil law and common law degrees. Called to the bar in 2007, Honorary -Colonel Farag is a member of the Law Society of Ontario. Her legal career began in private practice, where she focussed on the area of corporate-commercial law, estates law, and municipal by law enforcement litigation. Since 2011, she advocates in the public sector for marginalized clients from different cultural backgrounds.
She is actively involved as a board member with various community agencies. She had also spearheaded different initiatives relating to child and youth advocacy and the underprivileged in society.
